A very first collaboration with Kunstendag voor Kinderen (Arts Day for Children) in the form of a special Ket Club (*) featuring two outstanding young bands, each playing a 30-minute set at 90dB to protect young ears.
We kick off this Sunday afternoon concert with Kipgeweer, a band that briefly went viral with their debut single ‘Little Monkey’. Kipgeweer is a unique Antwerp phenomenon, born in 2020 in the living room of the Deweze family as a creative outlet during the Corona madness. The frontman is the now (!) 12-year-old (!) singer/songwriter/guitarist Neo Deweze, son of drummer Pascal Deweze (known from Metal Molly, Sukilove & Broken Glass Heroes), and the band is completed as a trio with bassist Pieter Van Buyten (known from Flip Kowlier, among others).
Last year (2024), they released their debut album ‘Chicken in Memphis’, packed with raw and catchy rock’n’roll, written and sung by Neo himself. Kipgeweer = The White Stripes meets The Muppets!
Madd9 (aka Quintin Beurskens, born in Bilzen in 2003) is undoubtedly one of the most distinctive voices of the new hip-hop generation. Together with his talented producer Preyas, he creates an immersive mix of hip-hop, funk, and neo-soul. Preyas’ command of analog synths and signature Detroit-style hip-hop drums perfectly complement Madd9’s infectious hooks and layered verses. With a sharp ear for musical fusion, Madd9 creates a unique sound that transcends genre boundaries. He was quickly picked up by the influential label Beatville, home to artists like Coely and Fahad Seriki (formerly known as DVTCH NORRIS). Since then, he’s been dropping singles and EPs non-stop. A unique chance to catch a glimpse of this exceptionally talented young artist in the ABClub.
